Poland abounds in countless areas with magnificent natural sites, such as mountains, plateaus, uplands and lowlands. The landscape of these terrains is diversified by such formations as lakes, beautiful rivers, dunes and seaside lands. Due to the rarity of their occurrence, many of them are now part of national parks, landscape parks and natural reserves.
There are 23 national parks in Poland. Many of them contain unique features not found anywhere else in Europe or even the world. A few of these parks can be found in a near vicinity to Krakow, such as Ojcowski National Park, Babiogórski National Park, Pieniński National Park, and Gorczański National Park. In the south-east of Poland there are many interesting wildlife areas, e.g. Roztoczański National Park and Bieszczadzki National Park. Many areas under conservation rich in natural qualities, such as Babia Góra Biosphere Reserve, East Carpathian Biosphere Reserve (Polish-Slovakian-Ukrainian) and Tatry Biosphere Reserve (Polish-Slovakian) were put on the UNESCO MAB Biosphere Reserves list.
We encourage you to visit Poland, but especially to admire its breathtaking mountain vistas, beautiful forests and rivers as well as other natural wonders.
